The Gimmal Workshare Connector for EMC|Documentum supports the full capabilities of Workshare Professional including document change management through email, document comparison and review, PDF creation and document security. Each of these capabilities is available in Workshare with storage of the documents in a Documentum repository.
Simplify Email Collaboration - Once documents, whether created in Word or accessed or opened from Documentum, Workshare Professional provides the ability to email the document, including an attachment of a previous version of the document and a PDF rendition.
Document Comparison and Review - Workshare Professional eliminates document version proliferation by maintaining a master document. An edited document, including outstanding changes can be saved back into the Documentum repository, optionally as a new version of the document. Throughout this review cycle, the overall integrity of the document is ensured as the owner of the document has the ability to lock the document against unintended changes by “checking out” the document from the Documentum repository.
Document Security - Workshare Professional allows you to set an enterprise-wide policy to remove sensitive information when documents are sent by e-mail. Workshare Professional allows this information to be automatically removed from the document before the document is emailed or stored in Documentum repository, preventing unintentional distribution of information and ensuring that the permanent versions of documents contain only the intended information.
Environment and Platform - The Connector builds on standard EMC|Documentum platform components, using the web browser and Microsoft Office applications to ensure that the interface into Documentum is unchanged. The Webtop Connector is built using a web services layer that is included with the product.
