Gimmal Group is a Gold Certified Microsoft partner focused on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) and Enterprise Content Management and Records Management (ECM/RM). We are a thought leader in the ECM/RM industry. This is our only business, and we are nationally respected experts. We are architecting, designing and implementing some of the largest and most sophisticated ECM/RM systems in the world. Most of these implementations include MOSS 2007 in a variety of roles and we are also actively planning the deployment of SharePoint 2010. The Gimmal SharePoint Enterprise Framework is a proven solution for ensuring the success and speed of deployment of SharePoint for ECM/RM.
SharePoint has been designed to drive broad information worker participation in Enterprise Content Management. It enables organizations to manage previously unmanaged content types, maximizing the value of an organization’s information assets while supporting broadening compliance challenges.
Forrester, an independent analyst firm, reports that, "Microsoft leads all vendors by a large margin, with nearly 25% of organizations planning to invest in its technology for enterprise content management. Rather than disrupting the existing enterprise content management vendor landscape, which remains healthy, Microsoft is establishing foundation content services as a new class of functionality, which will blend pervasive team collaboration with business document management.”
Gimmal recognized the importance of Microsoft SharePoint for an enterprise deployment since its initial release in 2003 with Windows SharePoint Services, with MOSS 2007 and with SharePoint 2010. We have made significant investments in growing our expertise and team by working alongside Microsoft in internal development, on client engagements, via industry participation, and through the strategic hire of recognized experts.
Some highlights of our team’s efforts include:
- Gimmal has developed the SharePoint Enterprise Framework for Content and Records Management which employs Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 native capabilities to enable content governance through enterprise information lifecycles, and effective records management. The solution allows information workers to locate, classify and manage content while complying with corporate, legal and retention guidelines.
- Gimmal is developing the Records Management Application for SharePoint for customers who would like to enhance the records management functionality of SharePoint 2010 with DOD 5015.2 oriented features, as well as those customers who are required to run their system in a certified configuration.
- Extensive experience with the development of integrated ECM systems, including components from EMC / Documentum, MOSS 2007, Microsoft Exchange, OpenText, IBM, Lotus Notes and others. We have integrated both SharePoint 2003 and 2007 with a variety of applications, integrated Microsoft Exchange with large email archival systems, and integrated MOSS 2007 with the leading ECM suites. We are among the best respected architects and implementers of both MOSS 2007 and ECM systems in the United States.
- Experts in the strengths, weaknesses and best roles for MOSS 2007 in an ECM/RM deployment.
- Work with the Microsoft team that defined and built the Department of Defense 5015.2 Records Management Application Standard certification for MOSS 2007.
- Sponsored by EMC and Microsoft to integrate MOSS with Documentum and define a solution blueprint / roadmap for this integration. We are also an active member of EMC’s SharePoint focus group for RM.
- Integration of MOSS 2007 and OpenText for ECM/RM in a Fortune 50 company, and we are rolling that out as part of an enterprise program.
- Building numerous MOSS Applications that deliver business value across the full capabilities of MOSS including: collaboration, portals, enterprise search, ECM, business process and forms and business intelligence.
- Some departmental applications we have deployed include: Accounts Payable Imaging, Web Content Management for a publically traded company Web site, an executive dashboard tracking mergers and acquisition, a collaborative portal and intranet site for geologists and geophysicists in an energy exploration company, an intranet and extranet portal for an IT service company, integration of MOSS with geographic information systems (ESRI, Google Earth, Virtual Earth) for content enabled applications and “geo-search” that includes map features and the documents associated with them, and document management for globally distributed companies spanning locations in Europe, Africa and the U.S.
